Lennon’s director Don Scardino has long been an admirer of John Lennon.
“He led the way for millions of us to look into our hearts; he was a major
peace activist,” he told ABC news.
Lennon includes unpublished works released to Mr.
Scardino by Yoko Ono Lennon and also features hits such as “Give peace a
chance,“ “Whatever gets you through the night” and, of course, “Imagine.”
John Lennon’s most famous composition continues to bring a global
message of peace to a troubled world. Two years ago, Yoko Ono Lennon released
the rights to her husband’s hit “Imagine” to Amnesty International for a
campaign of the same name.
A spokesperson for Amnesty International said, “‘Imagine’ expresses the
hope and idealism that inspires Amnesty Inter-national’s vision: that of a
world in which every person enjoys all the rights enshrined in the Universal
Declaration of Human Rights.
In its appeal to the power of the imagination, the song ‘Imagine’ echoes
Amnesty International’s faith in the power of the ordinary individual to make a
difference.”
Yoko Ono
Lennon explained, “Those who know the song ‘Imagine’ understand that it was
written with a very deep love for the human race and a concern for the
future."
